How to edit the website
This page is for the church members who keep the website up to date. Print it out if that's handy. Nothing you do can break the website: if something goes wrong, the old version stays up until it's fixed.
Signing in
- Go to app.pagescms.org (there's also an "Editor sign-in" link at the bottom of every page on the website).
- Enter your email address and press the sign-in button.
- Open the email that arrives and click the link in it. You're now signed in.
- Choose the church website from the list.
The first time, you'll need the invitation email you were sent. If you can't find it, ask Andrew to send another.
After a Sunday service
The website adds each Sunday morning service by itself, on Sunday afternoon, using the video on our YouTube channel. You just add the details.
- Click Service recordings. The newest service is at the top, with an empty title.
- Click it, then fill in:
- Sermon title, for example The Good Shepherd.
- Bible passage, for example John 10:1-18. If there were two readings, press Add and type the second one in the new box.
- Series, only if the sermon is part of a series. Type the series name exactly as it was written last time (for example Lent 2026), so the sermons are grouped together.
- Press Save.
The website updates about a minute later. If a service hasn't appeared by Sunday evening, you can add it yourself: press Add an entry, choose the date, and paste the YouTube link.
Changing a page
- Click Pages and choose the page, for example What's on.
- Click into the text and change it. To add a heading, a list, a link or a picture, type
/and choose from the menu that appears. - Press Save.
The top of the home page is under Home page welcome: the heading, a short welcome, and the Sunday services times. If a service time changes, change it there.
Adding a new page
- Click Pages, then Add an entry.
- Give it a title and write the text.
- Choose where it should appear:
- Show in the main menu for pages that are always there (like About us). The menu position number decides the order: smaller numbers come first.
- Feature on the home page for news and events (like Christmas services). Write a one-sentence summary for the home page.
- Press Save.
When an event is over, open its page and switch off Feature on the home page. Switching off Published hides a page or a recording from the website without deleting it.
Photos
- Click Gallery, then Add an item.
- Choose the photo. Photos straight from a phone are fine.
- Write a caption (shown under the photo) and a description of what's in the photo, for people who can't see it. For example: Children from Young Church holding up their Easter cards.
- Press Save.
Please only use photos where everyone in them is happy to be on the website. Ask parents before using photos of children.
If something doesn't look right
- My change hasn't appeared. Wait two minutes, then refresh the page. If it still isn't there after five minutes, tell Andrew. It's usually a quick fix.
- I made a mistake. Just open it again, correct it and save.
- I deleted something by accident. Tell Andrew. Nothing is ever lost for good.
